GMC Championships (10/17/20)

The Lady Aves took their first strides of the postseason, competing in the GMC Conference Championships at Voice of America Park.

Finishing 4th behind district rivals Lakota East, Mason, and Oak Hills, the Lady Aves Varsity look to race confidently at Districts this weekend.

Senior Victoria Schwegmann (10th, 19:15) and freshman Anna Wegener (20th, 20:29) led the Lady Aves with top 20 finishes. Sophomore Anna Munoz (24th, 20:55), junior Jemma Pooley (25th, 21:02) and Marissa Thorp (31st, 21:25) paced the second pack. Sophomore Maria Shomo (35th, 22:01), and sophomore Claire Berlier (39th, 22:47) rounded out the Varsity effort.

The Lady Aves JV squad finished 3rd, led by senior Gaby Pereda (9th, 21:30). Senior Kyra McHugh (15th, 22:16), senior Sarah Schrantz (16th, 22:22), sophomore Kayla Busby (17th, 22:29), and junior Emily Siderits (18th, 22:38) packed close together, and senior Kaelyn Ziegler (22nd, 22:51), and senior Jozy Allen (26th, 23:23) also competed well.

Special congratulations to the Aves runners who earned 1st team and 2nd team All-GMC:
1st team – Victoria Schwegmann
2nd team – Anna Wegener, Anna Munoz and Jemma Pooley.

This week, JV will compete in the GMC JV Championships at Valley View Nature Preserve in Milford on Thursday. On Saturday, the Varsity are at VOA again, competing at Districts to qualify for the Regional Championships in Troy.

Reminder that Senior Night is this Wednesday evening at 5:30 PM at the Junior High Stadium. Senior parents and the team will meet to celebrate the joys and accomplishments of this year’s senior class.
