The relaxed but determined Lady Aves Varsity team advanced to Regional competition for the fourth straight season.

The Lady Aves took 4th place in Race B, finishing behind rivals Lakota East, Loveland and Walnut Hills.

Senior Victoria Schwegmann (4th, 19:06) and freshman Anna Wegener (22nd, 20:14) led the Lady Aves. Sophomore Anna Munoz (32nd, 20:44), senior Marissa Thorp (37th, 20:58), sophomore Maria Shomo (49th, 21:21), and senior Gaby Pereda (60th, 21:48), packed tightly and ran near season-best times for a total team effort.

Additionally, on Thursday, the Lady Aves JV competed in the JV Districts Open race. Top finishers were sophomore Kayla Busby (47th, 22:55), sophomore Claire Berlier (62nd, 23:15), senior Elizabeth Staffiera (67th, 23:23), freshman Iris Carman (76th, 23:23), sophomore Cami Mathews (79th, 23:44), freshman Claire Jensen (86th, 24:08) and sophomore Anna Hewitt (88th, 24:15).

Though bittersweet, the JV Open was the last race of the season for the majority of the team.

This weekend, the Lady Aves Varsity will compete at the Regional Championships in Troy. The top 5 teams and top 20 individuals will advance to the State Championships in Obetz, OH (near Columbus) the following weekend.
